Why I want to be a Registered Nurse
Tuesday, March 03, 2009
My name is Katrina Evans. I’m a 35 year old mother and full time student.
I grew up with a single mother who had Kidney Disease, I took care of her
and worked with her cleaning houses as far back as I can remember. She
passed away when I was 15, and I lived with my aging grandparents after that
helping them with their janitorial business. My grandmother got breast
cancer, and I got to watch what that disease can do to you, then she was
diagnosed with Dimensia and Alzheimer’s Disease. I have been around illness
my entire life, but strangely enough it hasn’t gotten me down, I have an
overwhelming desire to ‘make people better”!! I love to see what a caring
and helpful relationship can do to a person’s healing process. I truly
enjoy taking care of people. I had to wait until my daughter got older
before I could pursue my dream of becoming a nurse, now it is finally coming
true. I’m so happy, and feel so blessed to be able to be learning about how
to accurately take care of people. Being a single mom, and living off of my
student loans is extremely hard (especially since I live in a house that is
truly a “money pit")! A scholarship from CampusRN would forever be greatly
appreciated. Thank you, and have a wonderful day!
